On Monday, the same day in which the New York Yankees sent star pitcher Gerrit Cole to have an elbow MRI, Aaron Judge underwent one on his abdominal area.
That day, manager Aaron Boone famously said that Judge was “mid-spring beat up” and wouldn’t take batting practice or play in games until Wednesday.
The day after that, it was revealed that Judge underwent an MRI on his abdominal muscle that came back clean.
While people were understandably wary given the Yankees’ way of mishandling information regarding injuries, Judge himself said this week that he was “pretty sure” he would be ready for Opening Day, which is on March 28.
According to Yankees insider Chris Kirschner, he will be back on the field much earlier than that.
“Aaron Boone said via the @YESNetwork that he has Aaron Judge penciled into Saturday’s lineup,” Kirschner tweeted.

Judge appeared to be hurt after a swing in Sunday’s game.
After the MRI, however, it has been confirmed that he is fine and he is healthy enough to return to action.
After what happened with Cole (he will miss 1-2 months and still doesn’t have a clear diagnosis), the Yanks didn’t want to take any chances and immediately sent Judge for an MRI on his abdomen.
Fortunately for them, he is all systems go.
Hip and toe injuries limited Judge to just 106 games last year, and he was still able to hit 37 home runs even while playing banged up most of the time.
The sky is the limit if he is fully, 100 percent healthy.
For their own sake, the Yankees are hoping he is as close to that number as possible.
