The Kansas City Chiefs won their third Super Bowl championship in five seasons last month, making them a dynasty, and so far in free agency, they have done what they needed to do to be able to compete for yet another ring in 2024.
While cornerback L’Jarius Sneed received their franchise tag and could get traded, star defensive tackle Chris Jones agreed to a massive five-year contract while quarterback Patrick Mahomes agreed to restructure his contract in order to clear some salary cap space.
On FS1’s “First Things First,” Nick Wright said that free agency “could not have gone better” so far for the Chiefs because they also haven’t made any ill-advised signings.
“Free agency, thus far, for the Chiefs literally could not have gone better.”

Wright named several wide receivers who were signed in free agency, and he felt Kansas City shouldn’t have signed any of them at the price point each went for.
Wide receiver is possibly the only real need for them right now, as they had to make do during the 2023 season with a young and inexperienced group at that position.
Of that group, Rashee Rice, who put up 79 catches, 938 yards, and seven touchdowns as a rookie in 2023, is clearly the best player, but the Chiefs could use another more proven wideout to solidify their chances of securing a Super Bowl three-peat.
The rest of the AFC seems to be getting better, especially after the rising Houston Texans brought in star pass rusher Danielle Hunter and traded for running back Joe Mixon this week.
But as everyone learned once again in 2023, it is foolish to pick against Mahomes.
