The St. Louis Cardinals are hoping 2024 will be much better than 2023.
Last season was a disaster for the Cardinals as they seemed to never play up to their potential.
But, playing in a weak NL Central, the Cardinals have a great chance to find themselves at the top of the division.
One player the Cardinals will be without to start the year is Tommy Edman.
According to Katie Woo, Edman will be shut down from hitting activities for one week.
The utilityman is recovering from wrist surgery and will begin the year on the injured list.

This is a tough loss for the Cardinals as Edman has always been a consistent player.
Last season, Edman played 137 games and hit .248 with 13 home runs and 47 RBI.
Also, he added 27 stolen bases.
The Cardinals may need multiple players to fill his role as he plays many different positions.
St. Louis is a great baseball town and their fans do not take kindly to losing.
That is why being competitive this year is so important.
The Cardinals seem to have a nice blend of veterans and rookies.
We will get to see Jordan Walker and Masyn Winn take another step in their young careers.
Also, former MVP Paul Goldschmidt and defensive maestro Nolan Arenado are both looking for bounce-back seasons.
Like most teams, the Cardinals will go as far as their pitching can take them.
They added Sonny Gray and Lance Lynn in the offseason.
The 2024 Cardinals will enter the season with expectations of getting back to the playoffs.
