Last offseason, the New York Giants decided to sign quarterback Daniel Jones to a lucrative multi-year contract, a deal that seemed to signify their commitment to him as their long-term solution under center.
Well, a year later, it seems like the Giants are already having second thoughts about that commitment to Jones, and they are now turning their attention to attempting to land one of the top quarterback prospects in this year’s NFL Draft.
New York apparently has their eyes set on one 2024 passing prospect in particular, at least according to SNY’s Connor Hughes on Twitter on Friday.
“The main position to watch here is quarterback, specifically Michigan’s J.J. McCarthy. The buzz is there that he’s the player the Giants want.”

Currently in possession of the sixth overall selection in this year’s NFL Draft, the Giants would reportedly like to land former Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy with their top pick, according to Hughes.
McCarthy has shot up the draft boards during the last few weeks as more analysts have realized that a number of teams around the NFL are very intrigued with the potential of the former Michigan passer.
McCarthy being available when it comes time for New York to make the No. 6 pick in April is not a guarantee though.
If the Giants want to absolutely make sure they end up with the former Michigan quarterback or one of the other top-four passing prospects in this year’s draft, then they might need to make a trade to move up even further in the opening round.
Is that something New York is willing to do?
