For years, Sammy Sosa was the talk of the league.
He was one of the main reasons behind fans regaining interest in the game thanks to his exciting home-run record chase in 1998, and his immense exhibitions of power afterwards.
However, he has had a cold relationship with Chicago Cubs owner Tom Ricketts over the years, in large part because he hasn’t apologized for his involvement in the PED (performance-enhancing drug) era.
By the look of things, however, there could be changes coming soon.
“Sosa, asked if there’s any talk between him and the #Cubs about patching-up their strained relationship, says: ‘We’re getting close,’” Chicago sports reporter Mike Berman tweeted.
He then added: “Just talked to Sosa — he says he hasn’t talked to Tom Ricketts, but he’s open to doing so, ‘When the time is right.’ Adds, ‘I’m an open book.’ And … ‘I think it’s going to happen.’”

Sosa hit 609 home runs over the course of a long career, 545 of them as a member of the Cubs.
Fans haven’t been able to see him much mostly because of the cold (or nonexistent) relationship with the ownership of the team.
He was a big part of the Cubs in the 90s and the 2000s, steroids or not.
He helped put the franchise on the map in some dark years, and was always charismatic and lovable during his playing days.
Fans certainly hope that the two parties can get closer together and fix their relationship.
We are sure he would be greeted like a hero at Wrigley Field.
