Week 5 features a battle of NFC titans as the San Francisco 49ers will take on the Dallas Cowboys in one of the weekend’s most anticipated matchups.
The 49ers remain undefeated through four weeks, while the Dallas Cowboys were able to bounce back from a loss to the Arizona Cardinals with a dominant performance against the New England Patriots to improve to 3-1.
Both squads feature impressive defenses and offensive weapons capable of ripping off explosive plays.
San Francisco is considered to be the favorites because of how consistent they’ve been on both sides of the football but Dallas represents their toughest test yet.
Prior to the 2023 NFL season, the 49ers actually did business with the Cowboys as they shipped out Trey Lance to Texas.
When asked if there’s any concern about Lance divulging any information to Dallas ahead of their game, San Francisco general manager John Lynch downplayed the idea via KNBR.
“My experience with that as a player is it tends to screw you up more than it helps. I mean, this isn’t the Houston Astros banging a drum for fastball or curveball. He can’t do that,” Lynch said.

Kyle Shanahan and Lynch are well-aware of what Lance knows about the scheme and they’ve likely already accounted for that in their own game plan.
Lance fell out of favor in the Bay Area after Purdy’s rise and Dallas saw an opportunity to take a gamble on a talented young quarterback who could someday turn into a useful piece.
The former number-three overall pick might not get a chance to exact revenge on his former team but he’ll surely be celebrating if the Cowboys come out on top.
