The Tennessee Titans made one of the most surprising moves of the offseason.
They agreed to give Calvin Ridley a deal pretty similar to the one they didn’t want to give AJ Brown.
Moreover, the fact that Ridley decided to join a divisional rival was also kind of shocking.
When asked about that decision, he talked about liking their defense and the chance to team up with a legendary wideout like DeAndre Hopkins.
But more than that, he knew that playing in Tennessee would give him a chance to play a bigger role in the offense, which is something that didn’t happen often with the Jaguars, given their surplus of offensive talent.
“Jacksonville, they have a lot of weapons over there and sometimes when I was there, I was like, feeling a little weird because I was always someone who wants the ball and I want to crack the game for us,” he said.

Despite having plenty of competition for targets, Ridley managed to be quite productive during the campaign.
He played all 17 games for them after missing more than a year with a leave of absence and a full-season suspension.
He was second on the team with 76 receptions, but he paced them with a whopping 1,016 receiving yards and eight touchdowns.
He played almost 85% of the team’s offensive snaps, the most on the team.
Even so, the prospect of competing for targets with the likes of TE Evan Engram and WRs Christian Kirk, Zay Jones, and now Gabe Davis wasn’t appealing for the Alabama product.
Now, new HC Brian Callahan hopes he’ll be just what Will Levis needs to take a leap in his first full season as a starter.
