The Justin Fields era is over for the Chicago Bears.
The team failed to develop him, and they had no choice but to give up on him in return for a conditional sixth-round pick.
Now, the Pittsburgh Steelers will have a chance to get a glimpse of his game, develop him, and make him their quarterback of the future.
That’s why sports analyst Skip Bayless couldn’t understand why the Las Vegas Raiders weren’t aggressive in going after him.
“I can’t believe the Raiders didn’t offer a little more for Justin Fields. Apparently, the Bears found that nobody was THAT interested in him. Good move by the Steelers to bank him for the future for no more than a conditional 6th-rounder,” Bayless said.

The Raiders don’t have a starting-caliber quarterback right now, but they’re likely going to address that need in the upcoming NFL Draft.
Justin Fields has shown glimpses of great play and was a first-round talent.
The Steelers do have Russell Wilson under contract, and he’s firmly expected to be the starter.
But if Wilson struggles early or even if they like what they see from him in practice this season, he could still have an opportunity to fulfill his destiny as a star in the league.
Fields is still young and may just need a change of scenery.
If given a chance to play, he’d show what he’s capable of with a decent offensive line and some skill players, which is something he never had during his days in the Windy City.
Also, if being traded for a conditional sixth-round pick to become a backup doesn’t light a fire inside of him and bring out the best of him in practice, then nothing is going to get it done.
