The Pittsburgh Steelers have a new backup quarterback.
Justin Fields has enough upside to end up winning the starting job and becoming their QB for the future.
That’s why former player Hines Ward took to Twitter to express just how happy he was for the fact that GM Omar Khan was able to land the Ohio State product.
“Shout out to Omar Khan! Making BIG MOVES by adding hometown kid J. Fields!” Ward said.

The Steelers made a low-risk/high-reward move here.
They didn’t have to give up much to get Fields, who’s still young, and who has shown glimpses of outstanding play in a limited time.
He’ll get to learn behind Russell Wilson, having the veteran mentor and leader he lacked during his days in the Windy City.
On top of that, he’ll learn behind one of the best head coaches in the game, all while playing behind a solid offensive line and with some talent at the skill positions.
He’s a scrambler, someone who can and will pick up additional yards and extend plays with his feet, as well as a massive threat in the open field.
Some players need more time to figure things out than others, and sometimes, they just need a change of scenery to finally take that leap forward.
Hopefully, Fields will be able to get his career back on track and prove everyone wrong.
