Despite adding Russell Wilson in free agency, the Pittsburgh Steelers weren’t done making changes to the quarterback room.
After dealing away Kenny Pickett to the Philadelphia Eagles, the Steelers went out and acquired Justin Fields from the Chicago Bears.
It was a good, low-risk move for Pittsburgh as they were able to land Fields by giving up a 2025 sixth-round pick that has the potential to turn into a fourth-rounder.
Fields was expected to be dealt, but after all the starting jobs around the league were filled it was unclear which team would take a chance on him.
However, Pittsburgh is a great landing spot for him given head coach Mike Tomlin’s presence and the rest of the budding offensive talent on the team.
While Wilson has reportedly been named the starter, Fields somehow has better odds to win next year’s MVP award, via ESPN BET.
“The Steelers have already named Wilson the starter, but Fields has better odds to win MVP,” they tweeted.

Fields is expected to compete with Wilson for the starting role with the Steelers and it seems that the oddsmakers are expecting him to eventually win out.
Wilson’s tenure with the Denver Broncos failed spectacularly and it looks like the gambling world is expecting him to fall short again.
The sequencing of events lends itself to the idea that the Steelers are going to roll with Wilson as the starter first and if he fails to perform then Fields will get a shot.
It’ll be a position battle that’ll be highly-publicized once training camp and preseason rolls around.
