After a surprising run to the Wild Card round of the 2023 NFL playoffs, the Cleveland Browns are poised to be a contender in 2024.
The Browns have got a good infrastructure in place with head coach Kevin Stefanski and general manager Andrew Berry, and the core of the roster is great on both sides of the football.
Offensively, Cleveland should have key pieces in Deshaun Watson and Nick Chubb back while defensively the team has Myles Garrett to anchor the edge.
The quarterback room was a puzzle that Stefanski needed to figure out in 2023 as Watson’s shoulder injury threw a wrench in the team’s plans.
Although Joe Flacco was able to carry the Browns into the playoffs, the need for a more reliable backup quarterback was glaring this offseason.
To that end, Cleveland’s done well to add depth behind Watson this free agency period, per Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com
“So the #Browns QB room is now Deshaun Watson, Jameis Winston, Dorian Thompson-Robinson and newly-agreed with Tyler Huntley,” Cabot reported.

The Browns recently signed Tyler Huntley to serve as presumably their third-string quarterback behind Watson and Jameis Winston.
Dorian Thompson-Robinson got a few opportunities last season following Watson’s injury but now will need to fight to make the final 53-man roster.
The league seems to be wising up to the idea of investing in a quality backup quarterback given the number of injuries they saw to the positon in 2023.
Should anything happen to Watson again, Cleveland looks better prepared to carry on in his potential absence.
