The Baltimore Ravens looked like the favorites to win Super Bowl LVIII after the dominant 2023 NFL season they had, but they fell short against the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game.
The Ravens had a stacked roster on both sides of the ball, particularly defensively where the unit led the league in several important defensive metrics.
However, Baltimore also went into the offseason with a number of key free agents that they wouldn’t be able to keep because of their salary cap situation.
The offense remained mostly intact with Lamar Jackson, but the defense suffered a number of losses.
Patrick Queen and Geno Stone departed for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals, respectively, draining some of the talent on the defense.
After Tyler Huntley signed with the Cleveland Browns, it established a troubling trend for the Ravens, via Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team.
“The Ravens have now seen Patrick Queen go to Pittsburgh, Geno Stone go to Cincinnati, and Tyler Huntley go to Cleveland. ‘You’re Dead to us, You’re Dead to me’ season continues,” Meirov reported.

It always stings to lose free agents, but it has to hurt even more for Baltimore fans to see players go to division rivals.
The AFC North is shaping up to be the most competitive division in the 2024 NFL season, and the Ravens will have to deal with seeing some of their former players twice during the regular season.
Baltimore will still have opportunities to bolster their roster before the start of next season, but they’ll have to find suitable replacements for the free agents they lost.
