The Pittsburgh Steelers’ roster has changed a lot over the past week.
The team has moved on from Kenny Pickett as their starting quarterback and acquired Russell Wilson and Justin Fields, hoping to improve at the position.
While some fans have questioned these moves, Peter Schrager called them “masterful” in a recent segment of “Good Morning Football.”
Schrager said, “To acquire both Wilson and Fields, and pay what they’re paying- less for both of them combined than most QB1’s- is brilliant.”
. @Steelers GM Omar Khan was masterful this weekend. To acquire both Wilson and Fields, and pay what they’re paying–less for both of them combined than most QB1’s–is brilliant. Pittsburgh got much better this weekend and they didn’t break the bank to do it.”

He finished his thought by saying, “Pittsburgh got much better this weekend, and they didn’t break the bank to do it.”
The Steelers have consistently had one of the best defenses in the NFL for many years.
Mike Tomlin can help this unit be their best, but it hasn’t been enough.
Even though the Steelers haven’t had a record under .500 with Tomlin as their coach, their offense hasn’t been strong enough in recent years to bring them on a meaningful playoff run.
With the addition of Wilson and Fields, the Steelers hope that one of them will succeed, bringing their offense to a higher level.
If one of these quarterbacks pans out, the Steelers should be in a good position to compete, at least in the AFC North.
The Steelers haven’t had a consistent starting quarterback since the prime days of Ben Roethlisberger, so this could be the sign of a new era for this team.
Fans are now anxious to see what other moves the team will make throughout the offseason, and are looking forward to seeing how they will perform in 2024.
