The upcoming 2024 NFL Draft is one of the deepest drafts at the wide receiver position in recent memory, with teams drooling over the prospect of bringing in some of these talented wideouts on rookie contracts.
With the wide receiver position being as talented as it is in the upcoming draft, there’s been a lot of talk and speculation about which players at the position will be the first ones off the board once the draft gets underway on April 25.
Obviously, the quarterback position is still the cream of the crop in this draft, with Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, and Jayden Daniels potentially coming off the board three picks into the draft, but then it will get interesting at wide receiver.
As of right now, the consensus around the league seems to be that Marvin Harrison Jr., son of Indianapolis Colts Hall of Famer Marvin Harrison Sr., is the top player at wide receiver in the draft.
However, Chris Simms of NBC Sports is going in a different direction with his top-five wide receiver rankings, which he posted on Twitter, as he has not one but two other wide receivers ranked ahead of the Ohio State star.
Here’s my Top 5 WRs. Rankings based on film.
Awesome group. So much to like with Nabers, Thomas, and Harrison. I just think the LSU guys are able to separate more and run by you better than Harrison pic.twitter.com/GsqoKflRYX— Chris Simms (@CSimmsQB) March 18, 2024
Malik Nabers out of LSU is a talented wide receiver who will likely be taken high in the upcoming draft, but putting him ahead of Harrison is a choice, as it seems like a stretch that any team would view the talent at this position this way.
Simms may have went this way because, literally, no one else has.
