Chase Young took the world by storm when he entered into the NFL.
He was the Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2020, and it appeared that he was slated to be one of the league’s best defensive players for many years.
However, after his breakout season in 2020, Young has struggled with injuries and has not completed an entire season since his rookie year.
He was traded to the San Francisco 49ers during the 2023 season, and while he was a member of a strong defense, Young could not get back to his dominant ways.
The 49ers parted ways with him during the offseason, giving the New Orleans Saints an opportunity to sign him to a one-year deal.
Young’s potential impact on this team remains to be seen, but if his recent comments are any indication, Young is ready to go.
According to Saints reporter John Hendrix, when discussing the 2024 season, Young said, “The goal is to be the best Chase Young I can be.”

If this is true, the Saints are getting Young on an incredibly inexpensive contract.
His best season earned him a Defensive Rookie of the Year award, and the Saints will greatly benefit if he can get back to that production level.
It will be interesting to see how Young fits into this Saints defense, especially considering the number of veterans on this roster.
The Saints are looking to make a splash in the NFC South this season, and signing a potentially high-upside player like Young could help them accomplish their goals.
