Over the years, Tyron Smith was a fixture on the Dallas Cowboys’ offensive line, and he established himself as one of the better left tackles in the NFL.
But now, he is headed to the New York Jets on a one-year deal.
The Cowboys posted a moving tribute to Smith on their official Twitter account as a thank you for his 13 years of service.

Smith came to Dallas in 2011 as the No. 9 pick in the draft, and it only took him three seasons to make his first Pro Bowl squad.
It would be his first of seven-straight Pro Bowl selections and eight overall, and he has also been named to the All-Pro First-Team twice.
Smith has also served as something of a bridge between the Tony Romo era and the current Dak Prescott regime in Dallas.
In recent seasons, however, he has had trouble staying healthy, and he appeared in just four games in 2022 and two games in 2020.
He hasn’t played a full season since the 2015 campaign.
While the Cowboys have had one of the NFL’s better offensive lines, the Jets had one of the league’s worst offensive lines in 2023, and the hope is that a healthy and spry Smith will protect aging quarterback Aaron Rodgers, especially as Rodgers bounces back from a torn Achilles.
Dallas has been rather quiet in free agency despite falling apart in the Wild Card round of the playoffs — their one notable free agent signing this month was linebacker Eric Kendricks.
But they still badly need a starting running back, not to mention some good karma to reverse their years-long trend of collapsing in the postseason.
