The Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Diego Padres officially opened the 2024 MLB season in Seoul, South Korea, as part of MLB’s World Tour.
It was the first game of the 2024 campaign, and the teams will return to the field on Thursday before heading back to America.
The Padres were in command for most of the game and reached the eighth inning up 2-1 in the score.
LA, however, had a four-run rally in that frame to flip the score and secure a 5-2 win.
With the game 2-2, the Dodgers scored the go-ahead run when the ball went through first baseman Jake Cronenworth’s glove:

Had Cronenworth caught the ball, it would have been, in all likelihood, an inning-ending double play.
But fate had other plans.
That eighth inning included RBI singles by Mookie Betts and Shohei Ohtani, the two best players on the roster.
Fans had all kinds of things to say about the game.
There were some standard celebration messages:
Great win!

A small glimpse into what’s going to be a monster year.
Crazy to watch this team just turn it on and explode!

Others, however, preferred to focus on the bizarre Cronenworth play that could have turned out differently.
That’s insane

The Padres will have a chance to get revenge on Thursday in Seoul.
The two teams have cultivated an intense rivalry over the last few years, with each team ending the other one’s season on different occasions.
The Dodgers might be favored to win the NL West, but anything can happen in the regular season and, particularly, in the playoffs.
Make no mistake: the Padres don’t want to be swept in the first series of the season and will take the field on Thursday hungrier than ever.
