Ahead of the start of the 2024 NFL Draft on April 25, there’s a lot of attention being paid to USC superstar quarterback Caleb Williams, with the expectation being that the Chicago Bears will bring him in with the No. 1 overall pick.
Not only is Williams widely considered to be by far the best prospect in this upcoming draft, but he’s getting a lot of recognition as potentially being the next big thing at the quarterback position in the NFL.
With that said, the comparisons to arguably the best quarterback in the game today, Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs, were bound to happen.
During his pro day on USC’s campus, Williams was asked about getting compared to Mahomes, and he thinks it is respectful, as he told Colin Cowherd of FOX Sports on The Herd with Colin Cowherd.
“I’ve said this multiple times,” Williams said. “I just think of it as respect. Everyone gets crazy when I say that there are things that he does physically. Obviously, I’m not Patrick Mahomes, and I’m not in his brain, but there are things he does physically that I don’t think that I can’t do.”

That’s a bold statement from a player who has yet to take a snap on the NFL level, but one thing is for sure when it comes to Williams: he doesn’t lack confidence, and he has no problem making statements like these as he feels he can back them up.
With so much hype surrounding Williams and comparisons like these, he’ll have a lot to prove when the Chicago Bears presumably take him with the No. 1 overall pick on April 25.
