With only a few weeks left before the Chicago Bears are officially on the clock with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the consensus is that the storied franchise will bring in quarterback Caleb Williams out of the University of Southern California.
There’s been a lot of speculation over the past few months about what the Bears would do at No. 1, as the team had yet to trade star quarterback Justin Fields, but once they shipped Fields off to the Pittsburgh Steelers last week, it seems like all but a done deal that Williams will be their new face of the franchise in the Windy City.
As if more proof was needed that Chicago will be drafting Williams, draft expert Mel Kiper of ESPN made it clear via The Rich Eisen Show that the former Trojans superstar will be wearing a Bears jersey next season.
“He’s gonna be the No.1 pick overall,” Kiper said. “The debate is gonna be moving forward at 2 and 3 and even at 4 and 5 because there’s other quarterbacks that other teams may trade up to get.”

As Kiper points out, the real intrigue starts once Williams is off the table following the Bears’ pick at No. 1 overall, as there could be a number of trades that take place with quarterback-needy teams looking to move up to grab players like Drake Maye, Jayden Daniels, and J.J. McCarthy.
Only time will tell what madness will ensure on or both draft day on April 25, as it seems most experts expect a lot of movement to take place.
