The Miami Dolphins are pretty close, but they still need a little more to sit at the contenders’ table.
One could argue that they need to revamp their defense to match their high-octane offense, and that wouldn’t be the craziest idea.
However, any team should jump at the opportunity to get even better at the things they’re already great at, especially when there’s an elite talent available at a potential bargain price.
That’s why NFL analyst Craig Carton believes the reports of a mutual interest between them and the Miami Dolphins make plenty of sense.
Talking on The Carton Show, Carton claimed that OBJ is no longer a No. 1 or No. 2 guy, and that’s why the Dolphins are a perfect destination for him.
“It’s a perfect spot for Odell,” Carton said.

They already have arguably the best one-two punch in the league with Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, so adding him as the third option would be perfect.
Carton argues that he’s obviously no longer the player he once was, adding that people get caught up in the name and the things he used to do.
Even so, being in South Beach and playing for an offensive-minded coach and perhaps the most explosive offense in the game wouldn’t be the worst thing that could happen to him.
Then again, this move would only make sense for the Dolphins — or any other team, for that matter — if Beckham were willing to take a significant pay cut.
Otherwise, no team would be interested in making such a big gamble, as he hasn’t been able to stay healthy for a couple of years now.
