Last year, the Chicago Bears passed on the chance to get a quarterback with the No. 1 pick.
Either because they weren’t enamored with Bryce Young, they still believed in Justin Fields, they liked the haul they could get for that selection, or they had always set their sights on this QB class, they decided to move on from that selection.
Fast forward to today, and they’re not going to take the same approach.
They’ve already moved on from Fields to clear the way for Caleb Williams, one of the most hyped quarterback prospects in recent times.
That’s why NFL analyst Craig Carton went out of his way to put an end to the doubts that have surfaced about him recently.
Talking on The Carton Show, he called him a generational, ‘can’t-miss’ talent, adding that the Chicago Bears have gone the extra mile to put him in a position to succeed.
“Caleb Williams is a LEGIT generational talent,” Carton said.

He argued that most teams taking a quarterback with the No. 1 pick have been in tough spots, roster-wise, which is why most of them haven’t panned out.
This time, however, the Bears might have the most talented team taking a quarterback first overall, at least, according to Carton.
The Bears added three prime weapons in TE Gerald Everett, WR Keenan Allen, and RB D’Andre Swift, and their offensive line also looks much better.
Williams comes with some red flags just like every other top-ten prospect, but at least the Bears are making sure he has everything he needs to find success in the league.
