We’re almost two weeks deep into the NFL free agency period, but that doesn’t mean teams are done making moves.
If anything, they keep working on the books to have more cap space and keep adding talent.
Notably, that’s what the New York Giants just did with superstar defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence.
According to a report by Field Yates of ESPN, the Giants and Lawrence agreed to restructure his contract, converting $10 million from his $16 million base salary for the upcoming season into a signing bonus.
The Giants have restructured DT Dexter Lawrence’s contract by converting $10M of his base salary into a signing bonus.
The move creates $7.5M in 2024 cap space.

That way, the Giants free up $7.5 million in cap space.
Once again, Lawrence was one of the ruling defensive forces in the league last season.
The fifth-year pro logged 53 total tackles (32 solo), 4.5 sacks, 21 quarterback hits, seven tackles for loss, and two passes defensed.
He’s also coming off a career best campaign in terms of total pressures (65), and he’s just entering his physical prime.
The Giants’ offense still needs a lot of work, but their defense could be one of the best in the game next season as well.
They added Brian Burns and with Lawrence just reaching his peak, they’ll be a nightmare to opposing teams for years to come.
