For more than a year, NFL fans, players, and even coaches have debated the controversial ‘tush push.’
The Philadelphia Eagles have mastered this play in short-distance situations, with opposing teams having no way to stop the so-called ‘Brotherly Shove.’
However, the league won’t look to ban this play for the time being, and some believe this might be for the best.
Notably, that includes NFL legend Chad ‘Ochocinco’ Johnson.
Talking to Shannon Sharpe on their Nightcap show, the former wide receiver stated that there’s no reason to ban this play just because one team has gotten great at it.

He pointed out the fact that the Eagles are the only team that has efficiently and consistenly been able to pull it off, so why ban it?
Instead, teams should focus on stopping the Eagles’ offense on first and second down, so they won’t have to worry about those short-distance situations.
He also thinks that if the league bans that play, then other teams will start nitpicking other plays to ban.
The Eagles have arguably the best offensive line in the game, but they got a massive blow with Jason Kelce riding into the sunset and walking away from the game.
So, there’s a chance that not even the Eagles will be able to get away with this play in the future, as they just lost an elite blocker and unmovable force right in the middle of their offensive line.
Also, it’ll be interesting to see if other teams are finally able to either stop them or replicate them.
