Out of nowhere, longtime NFL quarterback Joe Flacco put together a magical performance during the 2023 season as a member of the Cleveland Browns.
Flacco was able to help lead the Browns to a surprising appearance in the playoffs, and his success during the 2023 campaign ultimately resulted in him winning the league’s Comeback Player of the Year award.
This offseason, he signed a contract with the Indianapolis Colts to serve as the team’s top backup quarterback behind Anthony Richardson.
Recently, an old teammate of Flacco’s, former NFL tight end Dallas Clark, shared what it was like to be a part of the same locker room as the veteran signal-caller (via Pat McAfee on Twitter).
“[Joe Flacco is a] great dude, and I love that Indy got him because not only is he just a great person, but he’s going to be a guy in the locker room that is going to help the young guys.”

He’s so cool and all he ever told me was just get open” ~ Dallas Clark #PMSLive pic.twitter.com/5vBTk3oybm

Clark also shared a story about how Flacco really embodied the “Joe Cool” nickname that he was given during his career, as he just wanted Clark to get open out on the field, compared to someone like Hall of Famer Peyton Manning, who wanted Clark to be in a specific spot out on the field during each and every play.
Clark and Flacco were teammates when both were members of the Baltimore Ravens during the 2013 season.
Before joining the Ravens, the veteran tight end spent the first nine years of his NFL career in a Colts uniform, including the 2006 season when he helped lead the franchise to a Super Bowl victory over the Chicago Bears.
Clark didn’t sound too surprised that Flacco was able to be successful with the Browns in 2023 and he expects him to have a similar impact on Indianapolis this year, whether he ends up playing or not.
