Russell Wilson has received a warm welcome so far in his brief time as a Pittsburgh Steeler, and the much-needed fresh start has breathed some life into a franchise that has needed it since Ben Roethlisberger retired.
Wilson will be expected to revive one of the league’s most uninspiring offenses, and one of his new superstar teammates appears to be excited about the future.
All-Pro edge rusher T.J. Watt spoke publicly for the first time about the new quarterback room, stating his excitement for both Wilson and Justin Fields to be joining the team and noting, “I haven’t won a playoff game since my whole career so I’m open to any type of information.”

Watt praised Wilson for being a Super Bowl champion and being a guy who is capable of teaching him and the rest of the team so much about what it takes to win in this league.
Pittsburgh is in the unique situation of having Wilson on a veteran’s minimum contract of just $1.2 million due to the Broncos still paying him $85 million over the next two years.
This contract allows the Steelers to afford having the league’s highest-paid defense, led by Watt and his 19 sacks last season.
Watt also acknowledged how much parity there is in the league, particularly in the division where the Steelers have to compete with Joe Burrow, Deshaun Watson, and two-time MVP Lamar Jackson.
Upgrading at quarterback from Kenny Pickett was pivotal, and hopefully for Steelers fans Wilson fits in a lot better than he did in Denver.
