The Pittsburgh Steelers knew they needed to address their offensive woes once and for all.
They took a big step in that direction by signing Arthur Smith to replace Matt Canada as their offensive coordinator.
Then, it was all about revamping their quarterback room, and revamp it they did.
They parted ways with Mitch Trubisky, let Mason Rudolph walk away, and eventually traded Kenny Pickett.
Now, Russell Wilson will be behind center, with Justin Fields competing for his spot.
Those weren’t the only options they could’ve pursued in the offseason, but it seems like those were the only ones they considered.
According to a report by Brooke Pryor of ESPN, HC Mike Tomlin stated that they didn’t even consider making a run at Kirk Cousins in free agency.
Mike Tomlin says they didn’t look at Kirk Cousins in the free agency process.

Cousins was expected to stay with the Minnesota Vikings at first, but it didn’t take long before he signed a very lucrative deal with the Atlanta Falcons.
Perhaps that’s why the Steelers weren’t interested in his services, as they knew they would have to pay up to sign him, and that wasn’t in their best interests.
Some might argue that Cousins could’ve been a better choice than both Wilson and Fields, but he’s not precisely young, and he’s coming off a major injury.
On top of that, the Steelers now have two guys who seem to be a better fit for what they’re used to doing on the offensive side of the field.
