With exactly a month left until the Chicago Bears are on the clock with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the speculation about the quarterbacks in the upcoming draft is hitting an all-time high, as everyone seems to be chiming on whether some big moves will be made on April 25.
Although the consensus right now seems to be that the draft will start with three quarterbacks taken in a row, starting with Caleb Williams, followed by some combination of Drake Maye or Jayden Daniels at No. 2 and No. 3, one rumor has the Washington Commanders rolling the dice on University of Michigan’s J.J. McCarthy with the second pick.
McCarthy has been arguably the most talked about quarterback in this draft class over the past few weeks, as his draft stock has been on the rise as of late with some becoming sold on the prospect of him being a franchise quarterback.
According to Tom Pelissero, he said there is a belief that the Commanders may go with McCarthy at No. 2.
Wow: The belief amongst executives in the NFL who know #Commanders GM Adam Peters is that he will draft J.J. McCarthy at #2 overall.

A few weeks ago, former Wolverines head coach and new Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh claimed that McCarthy is the best quarterback in the draft and will be the first player at the position to be taken off the table.
Although Harbaugh is overhyping his former quarterback, McCarthy seems to be rising up mock drafts and could be taken after Williams goes to the Bears at No. 1 overall.
