The NFL Draft is rapidly approaching, making for an exciting time to be an NFL fan.
The draft is essential in every NFL offseason, as it allows teams to change the trajectory of their franchise with the right pick.
The Los Angeles Chargers have significantly benefited from the draft in recent history, as they acquired Justin Herbert in the first round.
Herbert is the new face of the franchise, a player that fans have quickly learned to love and appreciate.
However, for the Chargers to take the next step forward, they’ll have to keep building around him.
With the No. 5 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, many experts have indicated that the Chargers should take an offensive tackle or a wide receiver, hoping the team helps Herbert grow on offense.
While he might believe this is true, Sam Acho recently appeared on the NFL on ESPN, where he talked about the Chargers trading back in the first round.
“Maybe you can trade back and still get a tackle later on in the draft,” Acho said.

Acho believes acquiring more draft capital could be best for Herbert and the Chargers.
By getting more draft picks, the Chargers have more chances to hit on a player rather than putting all their eggs in the basket of their first-round selection.
Joe Alt, for example, is viewed as the best offensive lineman in the draft, but if he ends up being a bust and the Chargers draft him at No. 5, they might be upset they stayed where they were.
