The Denver Broncos are in a tough spot right now.
Moving on from Russell Wilson will have huge financial implications for them for the next couple of years, and the ripple effect has already started.
The Broncos parted ways with most of their veteran players, and they couldn’t replace them with top-notch players because of their financial situation.
That’s why NFL analyst Craig Carton believes that trading up to get a quarterback in the first round of the NFL Draft might not be in their best interest.
“Year 2 of Sean Payton is going to be a failure,” Carton said.

In the latest edition of his show, he predicted that Sean Payton’s second year would be a failure, adding that they have already been eliminated from playoff contention and will most likely have a rookie quarterback with no veterans around him.
He thinks the Arizona Cardinals could ask for a massive haul for the No. 4 pick, but next year’s first-round pick could end up being very valuable.
Then, looking at the big picture, he thinks they could just hope that J.J. McCarthy or whoever they like falls to their lap at No. 12, as only the New York Giants could spoil their plans.
If not, he thinks it would be better for them to try and make a trade with the Los Angeles Chargers, who will be on the clock at No. 5.
Whatever the case, we’re talking about a team that’s not one piece away from getting back on track.
So, even if they still need a player at the most crucial position in the game, they also need to take a big-picture approach and plan for the future.
