Jadeveon Clowney had a strong 2023 season with the Baltimore Ravens after signing a one-year deal with them last offseason, tying a career-high with 9.5 sacks, forcing a pair of fumbles, and deflecting five passes while playing in every game for the first time since 2017.
The 31-year-old had a lot more leverage heading into free agency this time around compared to recent years, and now it appears he will be heading home.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport has announced that Clowney is signing with the Carolina Panthers for a two-year deal worth $20 million, and up to $24 million.

Clowney is from South Carolina and dominated at the University of South Carolina and South Pointe High School.
Former Panther Stephon Gilmore attended both USC and South Pointe High School just as Clowney did, and the Panthers have been reportedly speaking with him about a reunion as well.
This is a welcome addition for the Panthers, who had a bad defense last season and lost most of their best players on that side of the ball this offseason in Brian Burns, Jeremy Chinn, and Frankie Luvu.
Clowney has bounced around the league quite a bit in recent years, as the Panthers will be his sixth team since 2018 after stints with the Texans, Seahawks, Titans, Browns, and Ravens.
It’s also a big pay bump for Clowney, who signed with the Ravens for just one year and $2.5 million last offseason.
It’s also the first multi-year deal he has landed since his rookie contract.
Good for Jadeveon, as he gets to go home and he also gets a bag to play for a young team that should make him feel valued.
