The Cincinnati Bengals spent years competing with stars on cheap deals.
That’s not going to be the case anymore.
Joe Burrow already got his payday, and it’s now Ja’Marr Chase’s turn.
However, according to Kelsey Conway of the Cincinnati Enquirer, the team has yet to engage in talks about a new deal with him.
The #Bengals have not engaged in contract negotiations yet with Pro Bowl WR Ja’Marr Chase, despite the fact he’s now eligible for an extension, but he remains in the team’s long-term plans.

She reports that they’re obviously committed to signing him to a contract extension, and he’s now eligible for one.
There’s absolutely no doubt that the Bengals will have the LSU star locked in for the future, and it should be a matter of when, not if, that will happen.
Then again, they need to be quite cautious with this move.
Chase has made it loud and clear that he’s looking forward to squeezing every last dime of his potential new contract, and he’s not going to give the Bengals any sort of hometown discount.
He’s made a case for being one of the best wide receivers in the game, and it wouldn’t be shocking to see him land a record-breaking extension with a deal that tops Tyreek Hill’s.
Perhaps he’s going to wait until former LSU teammate Justin Jefferson gets a deal done with the Minnesota Vikings before getting a contract of his own, which would be the wisest thing to do for his camp.
As for the Bengals, this might cost them Tee Higgins, as they may not be able to sign him to a long-term deal, and he’s already requested to be traded away.
