In each of the last two weeks, the New England Patriots have made the decision to bench quarterback Mac Jones in a pair of games that the team lost by a combined total of 69 points.
The benching of Jones has caused a number of Patriots fans to lose any faith they had left in the young quarterback, and his tenure with the franchise could be coming to an end sooner than later.
In his five games this season, Jones has only completed 62.5 percent of his passes for 1,008 yards, five touchdowns, and six interceptions.
Some believe the young signal-caller doesn’t have what it takes to be a successful quarterback in the NFL, while others, like ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky, think that he could thrive if he were with a different team in a better situation.

Orlovsky has made some pretty bold claims in the past, but this one might be a little too outrageous, even for him.
He’s saying that, basically, second-year quarterback Brock Purdy has been successful with the San Francisco 49ers mostly because he fits the mold of what they’re looking for in a starting signal-caller, and Jones could fill that role as well.
Anyone who has paid even an ounce of attention to what Purdy has been able to do in his short career would know that he’s done so much more than just run the 49ers’ offensive system well.
While Purdy is succeeding, other quarterbacks have struggled to run San Francisco’s offense, and in his career, Jones hasn’t given anyone any reason to think he could succeed with the 49ers.
