During the 2023 NFL regular season, the Cleveland Browns saw two of their best offensive players go down with season-ending injuries only a few weeks apart, which many believed were devastating blows for Cleveland at the time.
Star running back Nick Chubb was the first to go down, and star quarterback Deshaun Watson followed soon after, leaving the team to lean on backups and hoping the defense could help shoulder the load for the rest of the 2023 campaign.
The 2023 season seemed to be lost as a result of these injuries, but the team endured and played much better than expected without their two stars on offense, finishing with 11 wins and a playoff berth in the AFC.
Unfortunately, the team fell flat in the postseason, with the Houston Texans getting the best of them in the first round, which has led many to wonder what to expect from this team moving forward, as ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky thinks there’s no telling what this team will do in 2024 via NFL on ESPN.
“Deshaun Watson and the Browns are the biggest unknown,” Orlovsky said. “We just don’t know who Deshaun is as a player right now. He hasn’t played in more than six games in a season since 2020.”

If Watson has proved anything during his short stint with the Browns thus far, it is that he can’t be depended on, with health being an issue time and time again.
It could be more of the same from Watson during the 2024 campaign, or Cleveland could get the best out of him, which bodes well for their chances of competing for a title.
