After another disappointing end to an NFL season, with the Dallas Cowboys flaming out in the first round of the NFL playoffs, the team was expected to make some substantial changes during the offseason in order to right the ship in 2024.
However, America’s Team has stood pat for the most part during this offseason, which hasn’t sat well with their fans, who were hoping for changes that would lead to excitement heading into the 2024 campaign.
Along with failing to add vital pieces to the championship puzzle during this offseason, the Cowboys lost running back Tony Pollard to the Tennessee Titans, where he’ll replace veteran star Derrick Henry.
With Pollard leaving town, the Cowboys are nowhere near the deep team they once were at the running back position, which is not ideal for the offense moving forward.
Even though Pollard has left town, Dallas has a chance to bring back a familiar face in the form of veteran running back Ezekiel Elliott, who spent last season with the New England Patriots.
Apparently, the Cowboys and Elliott are mutually interested in a reunion, via NFL on ESPN.
“Ezekiel Elliott needs a team and there’s not a team that makes any more sense than the Dallas Cowboys,” Adam Schefter said.

Although Elliott had a forgettable season with the Patriots, the veteran running back returning to Dallas would be a smart move by both parties, as opportunities in the league are drying up.
Elliott racked up 12 total touchdowns in his last season with the Cowboys and would be a valuable piece to the puzzle in Dallas if he can get back to producing at a high level coming out of the backfield.
