On April 25, the 2024 NFL Draft will get underway with the Chicago Bears on the clock at No. 1 overall and presumably set to select USC superstar quarterback Caleb Williams with the top pick to be the franchise’s next starting quarterback.
Once Williams is presumably off the board at No. 1 overall, the draft starts to get very interesting, with quite a few quarterbacks making some noise as of late and, as a result, getting consideration to be taken at No. 2 or some point during the first round.
It seems as though draft boards of draft experts around the country change every single day, with quarterbacks going up and down, like Drake Maye from the University of North Carolina and Michael Penix Jr. from the University of Washington.
These two quarterbacks, along with former University of Michigan star J.J. McCarthy, have been getting a lot of buzz lately, with some believing two of these three quarterbacks could go higher than expected.
Maye is considered the favorite to go No. 2 to the Washington Commanders, while McCarthy and Penix could go anywhere in the first round from near the top to near the bottom.
However, Penix is the most likely quarterback to be taken later in the draft and possibly drop to the second round or further due to his medical history, but ESPN’s Adam Schefter thinks he could end up in the first round, via ESPN’s UNSPORTSMANLIKE Radio.
“I think that Michael Penix Jr. is going to find his way into round one,” Schefter said.

Only time will tell how things pan out in the upcoming draft, but if Penix continues to get positive reviews, he could see his draft stock rise.
There will no doubt be some fireworks in the draft with plenty of teams expected to try to wheel and deal for these talented quarterbacks.
