Even though he hasn’t played in months, New York Jets star Aaron Rodgers made the rounds again on Wednesday afternoon.
Rodgers reportedly received an additional $81 from the league’s performance-based pay policy, which rewards every single player in the league for their performance in addition to their salary.
Rodgers got the least amount of money from this policy, which is far from a surprise, as he only played four snaps and didn’t record a single completion before suffering a season-ending injury.
With that in mind, sports analyst Craig Carton didn’t hesitate to call out the league over this policy.
Talking on The Carton Show, he put the league on blast for laying off over 200 people despite sitting on a surplus of $500 million.
.@craigcartonlive is MAD about the NFL’s performance-based pay policy…

He also believes it’s outrageous that the league charges so much for parking, food, and beverages while they have this much money to spare.
Carton called out the league for giving out more money to multi-millionaires, adding that some might outplay their deals, but making north of a million per year should be more than enough.
Carton stated that the league should use this money to make sure the overall experience is more affordable for the average fan.
He has some valid points, and the players shouldn’t be to blame for this initiative.
Unfortunately, that’s just the way things go in this kind of business, and it’s highly unlikely that anything is going to change in the foreseeable future.
If anything, it might get more expensive.
