The 2024 NFL Draft is just around the corner.
Caleb Williams seems like a lock to go No. 1 overall at this point, but everything after that becomes unknown.
For months, Jayden Daniels and Drake Maye went back and forth for No. 2, and J.J. McCarthy has been a quick riser on most boards lately.
Notably, that has also translated into Maye falling back a little, which is something Mine Kimes cannot fully understand.
Talking to Daniel Jeremiah of the NFL Network on her podcast, she gushed about Maye and all the little things he can do on the football field.
“I’ve seen him layer the ball, I’ve seen him drive the ball, I’ve seen him escape and create…he can do all those things,” Kimes said.

Discussed Drake Maye’s (falling?) draft stock with my pal @MovetheSticks on this week’s pod!

She stated that while he does have some Josh Allen to him, he has also shown that he can make every single throw, make big plays as a scrambler, and work the middle of the field.
Maye’s athleticism, touch, and strong arm are also quite impressive, so she cannot fully grasp why he continues to fall on some draft boards.
UNC quarterbacks haven’t exactly fared well at the next level, with Mitch Trubisky and Sam Howell as the latest examples.
Then again, he should not be punished for his fellow Tar Heels’ shortcomings, and the talent is most definitely there.
Needless to say, he could make a lucky team very happy if he continues to dip and falls right into their laps, like, say, the New York Giants.
