The Houston Texans were already up-and-coming, but now, they’re officially here.
Trading for Stefon Diggs has given them yet another weapon in the passing game, and C.J. Stroud could have a field day in his second year in the league.
Notably, NFL analyst Chris Simms thinks Diggs was the missing piece they needed to take their offense to a whole new level.
“Really like the mix of Texans WR. Diggs is most effective as a route runner with the intermediate and underneath routes. Nico Collins the big body who is a downfield threat and can go up and get the ball. And Tank Dell as a jitterbug. Lots for Stroud and Slowik to cook with,” he tweeted.

Per Simms, Diggs is at his best as a route runner with the intermediate and underneath routes, whereas Nico Collins will be a downfield threat and Tank Dell is “a jitterbug.”
Bobby Slowik did wonders in his first season with Stroud.
On top of Offensive Rookie of the Year, he was a legitimate MVP candidate, and the team looked far ahead of schedule.
Add Joe Mixon, Dalton Schultz, and a healthy John Metchie III to that mix, and we could be looking at a top-five offense next season.
Of course, there will always be some growing pains for young quarterbacks, and Stroud will have to keep on working on his game to avoid hitting a wall in his sophomore season.
Even so, the Texans are going the extra mile to put him in a position to succeed, and he should only get better and even more efficient once the game starts slowing down for him.
The AFC is stacked, perhaps more than it’s ever been.
Still, the Texans should be a legitimate player, even if Diggs isn’t as explosive or dominant as he was a couple of years ago.
