Super Bowl XLIX will always be remembered for the infamous moment late in the game when the Seattle Seahawks decided to pass instead of the run ball right at the goal line against the New England Patriots.
Malcolm Butler read the play perfectly and jumped the pass to intercept it and give the Patriots a surprising victory.
That game is a massive sore spot for Seahawks fans who to this day probably aren’t over the play call.
It’s particularly upsetting because Marshawn Lynch had just carried the football for four yards on the play prior and he should’ve been given a chance to punch in the game-winning touchdown.
However, Lynch also made waves before the big game because at the Super Bowl media day, he infamously showed up and told reporters he was just there so he wouldn’t get fined.
In a sit down on Club Shay Shay, Lynch recalled the moment.
“As I’m going out there, @RSherman_25 asked me ‘What you gon’ do?’ I tell him ‘I’ll tell you what I’m not gone do, I’m not gone get fined’… it was just a true statement,” Lynch said.

Lynch was one of the most unique personalities in the league during his playing days, but he revealed that even he didn’t want to see his enormous fine total go up further.
The legendary running back had refused to speak to the media on multiple occasions, but the loophole he found made for one of the most iconic media days to date.
Players nowadays are good about fulfilling their media obligations, so it’s fair to say that no one will be racking up fines like Lynch did.
