Earlier this week, the Houston Texans made another aggressive move to show this team is ready to compete sooner rather than later, with the franchise bringing in veteran star wide receiver Stefon Diggs in a trade with the Buffalo Bills.
With Diggs seemingly disgruntled with the Bills organization for the past couple of years, the writing was on the wall in Buffalo that the team would part ways with the four-time Pro Bowler the second they got a trade offer that made sense, especially with the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft being as deep as it is at the wide receiver position.
Ultimately, the Texans came calling with a deal that made sense to the Bills, and as a result, Diggs is headed to one of the most promising young teams in the league led by a potential superstar in the making in quarterback C.J. Stroud.
On Thursday, an interesting development surfaced in the Diggs trade between the Bills and Texans, with Houston wiping out the final three years of the veteran wideout’s contract with the team, which will allow him to become a free agent after this upcoming season, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

This is an interesting and potentially smart move by the Texans, as it will motivate Diggs to prove himself during the upcoming 2024 NFL season and give the team the option to walk away if things don’t work out as planned.
However, it could also result in Diggs being a major part of the Texans offense and then signing with a different team in free agency, leaving Houston with a draft pick.
