Legendary running back Adrian Peterson hasn’t played a snap in the NFL since the 2021 season, and despite this, he apparently still hasn’t given up on playing in the league again.
Peterson hasn’t officially retired from the NFL, but at the age of 39, it’s hard to envision any team in the league having any interest in signing him to a contract.
Even though this might seem obvious to some, the future Hall-of-Fame running back recently shared on the “Courtside Club with Rachel DeMita” podcast that he’s still not ready to call it quits on his NFL career just yet (via Dov Kleiman on Twitter).
Adrian Peterson is not finished with his career just yet.
“In my heart, I’m not finished yet. I still have passion and love for the game. The one thing I have told myself is if nothing happened this year, I will hang them up and move on. So we will see.”

Peterson first entered the league back in 2007 when the Minnesota Vikings selected him with the No. 7 pick in that year’s NFL Draft.
He immediately made a gigantic impact on the Vikings, and he quickly established himself as one of the best running backs in the entire league.
During the first 10 years of his career with Minnesota, Peterson was voted to seven Pro Bowls, he earned four First-Team All-Pro selections, and he was named the NFL MVP in 2012.
He is still the last non-quarterback to win the league MVP, which says a lot about how impressive his performance truly was back in 2012.
After parting with the Vikings during the 2017 offseason, Peterson went on to have stints with the New Orleans Saints, Arizona Cardinals, Washington Commanders, Detroit Lions, Tennessee Titans, and Seattle Seahawks.
Overall, he ranks fifth in NFL history in career rushing yards and fourth all-time in career rushing touchdowns.
Will Peterson make a surprising comeback in 2024, or have we already seen the last of him in an NFL uniform?
