New York Giants tight end Darren Waller finally shared his thoughts about continuing his playing career in the Big Apple.
After playing in just 12 games this past season due to injuries, Waller talked with Gene Clemons about whether he would return for a ninth NFL season, via Doug Rush on Twitter.
“I have not decided yet,” Waller said.
Darren Waller when asked by @geneclemons on his decision to play in 2024 for the Giants:
“I have not decided yet.”
When asked if he can still play at a high level:
“Physically, I do still feel like I’m there.
There have been injuries, but as far as how I feel when I’m healthy… pic.twitter.com/eUUgPWXQoU— Doug Rush (@TheDougRush) April 5, 2024
The Giants offensive star explained that his physical health was not an issue for the upcoming season as he felt he could continue to play at a high level should he return to New York’s roster.
In fact, Waller noted that he has a lot left to offer a team should he decide to return, especially if he can avoid the injuries that plagued him this season.
The speculation around the New York franchise is the Giants will draft a quarterback to replace Daniel Jones after the team’s owner, John Mara, gave his front office permission to select a new quarterback this offseason.
Jones signed a $160 million contract in 2023 as New York made a commitment to him long-term, but that was before Jones regressed in 2023.
The Giants have the No. 6 pick in the draft, giving New York ample opportunity to select a quarterback with that selection in this quarterback-heavy class.
