The San Francisco 49ers have looked like the best team in the league by a significant margin.
Even though the Philadelphia Eagles are also 5-0, they haven’t been as convincing as the Niners thus far.
With that in mind, it only makes sense that the quarterback of the best team in the league is mentioned in the MVP conversation.
At least that’s how NFL legend Shannon Sharpe seems to think about this year’s MVP landscape.
In his latest appearance on First Take, Sharpe stated that even though he may not have the most impressive numbers and he does have the most talented supporting cast in the league, he absolutely deserves to be in the MVP debate.

Sharpe talked about the importance of playing mistake-free football, and that has been the staple of the Brock Purdy era thus far.
Through the first five weeks of the season, the Iowa State product is leading the league in QBR, completing over 72% of his passes and throwing for nine picks with no interceptions.
Purdy’s only turnover for the season came with a lost fumble, and he has a grand total of five turnovers through 15 games as a starter, not to mention the fact that he’s gone 15-0 in the regular season during that span as well.
He’s by no means the most spectacular player in the game, but he’s a guy who plays within his role and who has taken this offense to a whole new level, not a system QB or a game-manager like some claim.
