Trash-talking is as old as the game, and current players can take notes from one of the greatest teams in NFL history on how to up their skills.
That’s NFL Network analyst Brian Baldinger’s take at least.
On NFL Total Access, Baldinger named the 1985 Chicago Bears as one of the best trash-talking teams he lined up against during his career.
“If you played the ’85 Bears … you heard, literally, a running commentary the entire game,” Baldinger said.

Baldinger named the late Bears defensive tackle Steve McMichael as one of the best trash-talkers he faced during his career.
McMichael – who parlayed his 15-year football career into a professional wrestling role later in life – constantly told Baldinger that he was not talented enough to play against him, he recalled.
The analyst also named McMichael’s defensive linemates Dan Hampton and William “Fridge” Perry as Bears’ players who could both dish out bruising hits and trash talk.
Trash talk was to be expected, Baldinger said, anytime you lined up against a team coached by legendary Bears coach Mike Ditka.
Baldinger also told a story about playing in a golf tournament with members of that infamous Chicago team where those same individuals were continuously ripping more than golf balls during the friendly exhibition.
“They talked the entire golf tournament, too,” Baldinger said of Chicago’s ability to trash talk opponents in all walks of life.
