As of now, Tom Brady should be considered the greatest quarterback in NFL history, and that’s not going to change until further notice.
Perhaps he wasn’t the most talented and he definitely wasn’t the most athletic or physically imposing, yet he wound up doing things no one else even came close to.
Brady dominated the league for two decades, and beyond his durability and longevity, his ability to rise up to the occasion and get the job done when the lights were the brightest set him apart from his competition.
Notably, it all had to do with his mindset and his preparation.
Recently, former Patriots WR Julian Edelman shared a wild story about that.
Talking to Maxx Crosby on his podcast, he revealed that Brady’s practices were so intense that he actually simulated real-game situations on the field, with even flags being thrown (Via Los Talks Pats).
“He would go out there and he’d try to simulate, as much as he could, the mindset you have to be in when you’re playing in a game,” Edelman said.
Julian Edelman says Tom Brady would simulate game situations every time he practiced — Brady would even simulate a flag being thrown, so they would run the same play back-to-back multiple times.

Edelman stated that Brady was very demanding during practice because he wanted to know who to trust when it mattered the most, so he needed to know how everybody around him could deal with adversity and that kind of pressure.
For years, people actually took pay cuts just to get a chance to play with Brady, and he led by example by doing the same.
That speaks volumes about his desire and determination to win and constantly one-up everybody around him.
Just like Kobe Bryant in the NBA, Brady’s restless work ethic wasn’t only an inspiration for everybody in the room, it was the only way he knew how to do things.
