Malik Nabers’ draft stock has been skyrocketing in recent weeks after a stellar Pro Day performance, so much so that he is now firmly in the conversation to be a top-5 pick and possibly even the first receiver off the board over Marvin Harrison Jr.
The weeks leading up to the draft are typically smokescreen season, but unfortunately, it’s also the time of year when people will plant seeds to tank other prospects’ stock.
According to Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz, that’s what is happening here to Nabers, as a recent report came out suggesting Nabers has off-the-field concerns, to which Schultz replied, “there is so much wrong with this ‘report,’ I don’t even know where to start” and defended Nabers by saying “to attack a young person’s character with anonymous quotes less than three weeks before the NFL Draft is flat-out wrong.”
There is so much wrong with this “report,” I don’t even know where to start. To attack a young person’s character with anonymous quotes less than three weeks before the NFL Draft is flat-out wrong. Malik Nabers deserves better.
This stuff happens every year during draft season,… https://t.co/EabsYaAgU9

The report in question, originally posted by Tony Pauline of Sportskeeda, said “the LSU junior is known as a high-maintenance prospect who may struggle in a big city.”
Schultz went on to add, “this stuff happens every year during draft season, and largely, most of it is false and is being spread to get a player to drop.”
This is the first fans are hearing of Nabers having any character issues, so it’s entirely possible it is being leaked by some teams fearful that he has ascended past their projected draft slot.
Schultz has a point here, as this is not a new strategy and unless sources are being named or evidence is being provided, you can’t put much stock into something like this just weeks before the draft.
