The Houston Texans loved what they saw from their rookie quarterback last season.
And even though some guys regress or hit a bit of a wall in his second season, they clearly think he could be better or at least as good as he was in 2023.
That’s why they didn’t hesitate to give CJ Stroud another prime weapon and trade for Stefon Diggs.
Now, with Diggs, Nico Collins, Tank Dell, Dalton Schultz, and Joe Mixon around Stroud, they should be poised for a massive breakout next season.
Considering that, NFL analyst Craig Carton predicted that the Texans would be one of the best teams in the AFC, which shouldn’t be much of a surprise at this point.
Carton believes that this could be a 5,000-yard offense next season, as all of their receivers are deep-play threats (via The Carton Show).

The Texans also have John Metchie III there for depth, and it’s hard to think of a more well-rounded offense, personnel-wise.
OC Bobby Slowik was one of the most impressive assistant coaches in the game last season.
Of course, defensive coordinators will now have way more information and footage on Stroud, so they will game-plan accordingly to try and take some stuff away from him.
It’s hard to think of many players who could have a better season than he had last year, which is why people should be cautious with their expectations.
But even if he doesn’t improve one bit and is the same player he was last season, this team should be a legitimate threat.
