The NFL Draft is just around the corner, and that only means one thing.
There’s going to be plenty of back-and-forth and mixed reviews and reports about the most sought-after prospects in this class.
Notably, J.J. McCarthy has been the biggest riser in this year’s class.
He was considered to be a late first-round pick at one point, and now some have him as a clear top-10 selection.
That includes NFL analyst Michael Holley.
Talking on NBC Sports Boston, he claimed that he was hearing ‘more chatter’ about him being very high — maybe even as high as QB1 — for both the Washington Commanders and New England Patriots.

He added that McCarthy is a real possibility for the Patriots at No. 3.
That would mean Jayden Daniels or Drake Maye — who had been touted as the No. 2 and No. 3 picks for most of the process — could slip.
McCarthy’s numbers in college were far from impressive, and he didn’t play in the most pass-happy offense out there.
Then again, scouts seem to be enamored with his tape, and the fact that he used to play for an NFL coach is also encouraging.
McCarthy turned a lot of heads during his Pro Day, and while he might not have the same upside as other prospects, his floor also seems to be higher at this point.
Should that happen, it would be interesting to see who ends up getting Daniels or Maye, and this could shake up the entire first round.
