The NFL Combine can really help players from smaller programs turn some heads and realize what they were missing out on by watching too many Power 5 college games all season.
That’s exactly the case with one prospect out of Houston Christian, whose big combine performance has him flying up mock draft boards and getting a ton of attention around the league.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler has reported that Houston Christian edge rusher Jalyx Hunt is visiting with the Jacksonville Jaguars today after he already had visits with the New England Patriots, Denver Broncos, and Houston Texans.

In two seasons at Houston Christian, Hunt recorded 110 tackles, 7.5 sacks, five forced fumbles, and one interception.
Hunt began to generate some attention at the Senior Bowl where he displayed strong instincts as an edge rusher, but his stock really started to rise after the NFL Combine.
At the combine, he ran a 4.64 40-yard dash and had the best broad jump of any defensive lineman at 10’9″.
He did all of that at an impressive 6’4″ and 252 pounds.
The 19 reps on the bench press and 37.5-inch vertical leap weren’t anything to sneeze at either.
The Jaguars could use the help, as they had only 40 sacks last year which was the 8th-fewest in the NFL, and 27.5 of those 40 sacks came from two players in Josh Allen and Travon Walker.
Those two represent a terrifying pass-rushing duo, but there’s very little depth behind them.
Jacksonville did land Arik Armstead in free agency at defensive end, but finding more edge rushing depth behind its two young stars will definitely be a priority in the draft.
