With the NFL Draft just around the corner, scouts and pundits are going wild with some of their projections and picks.
Caleb Williams has been penciled in as the No. 1 guy for quite a while now, with Jayden Daniels going back-and-forth at either No. 2 or No. 3.
Now, it seems like J.J. McCarthy has leapfrogged Drake Maye all the way to the No. 3 spot, and former NFL star Keyshawn Johnson isn’t so sure about that.
Talking on Undisputed, he stated that he didn’t see anything from McCarthy in college that made him think that he was worthy of going that high.
He argued that being No. 3 means you’re not that far off from being No. 1 and vice versa, asking if people actually thought that McCarthy was good enough to be No. 2 or No. 1.
“I’m sorry, but I didn’t see anything in college football that made me say, ‘Omg that’s the No. 3 pick in the Draft,’” Johnson said.
.@keyshawn isn’t taking J.J. McCarthy No. 3 overall in NFL Draft:

He also thinks that McCarthy wouldn’t be the first quarterback off the board if Williams and Daniels weren’t in this class, and that might be a valid point.
Of course, scouts dig deep into the tape, and they’re reportedly in love with what they’ve seen from the Michigan product, who also had an impressive performance on his Pro Day.
We’ve also seen players exceed their draft expectations over and over, so this wouldn’t be the first time it happens.
Still, there’s nothing certain about the NFL Draft, and it’s more about potential than what the players actually did in college, at least when it comes to quarterbacks.
Now, it’ll be up to McCarthy to prove Johnson and the doubters wrong.
